The senior high hand bell ensemble from Fairview Christian Academy took first place at the American Association of Christian Schools’ National Fine Arts Competition. Ten teams representing the best ringers from ten states came to compete and the competition was fierce. Our students gave an outstanding performance and came away with the top honor. The team is composed of Gabe Gerdt (Senior), Whitney Boggs (Senior), Bonnie Gerdt (Junior), and Mandi Reynolds (Junior) and is led by Mrs. Jan Reynolds. These students have put in hours upon hours of practice over the past months to get to this point and truly deserve this honor. Special thanks goes to Mrs. Reynolds for her tireless work with the bells program over the past few years. It has been a labor of love and takes an enormous amount of time. FCA also thanks Mr. Gary Bynum, a member of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Ringers, for working with the students and for travelling many miles to see them perform at competition.
Last week many of our students were able to participate in the TACS State Fine Arts Competition held in Murfreesboro. Several of our students won a state title and will be advancing to the national competition held in April. Both the hand bell choir and the hand bell ensemble won first place. FCA will be hosting a spring concert for all of our fine arts contestants in music Tuesday night, March 13 at 7pm. Come and enjoy an evening of music and hear what our students are preparing for their state competition.

Monday and Tuesday, February 19-20, many of our FCA students participated in the TACS district fine arts competition held in Chattanooga. Students from the 4th grade to the 12th grade were competing to earn a place in next month’s state fine arts competition to be held in Murfreesboro. There was a wide range of competitions, from vocal solos to choirs to handbell groups and speeches. Check back soon to see how our students did. Congratulations to the FCA boys varsity team for clinching the 2nd place position in last weekend’s district basketball tournament with a victory over Berean Academy of Chattanooga. The Falcons lost to the Christian Heritage Lions of Dalton, GA in the championship game but were still able to earn a spot in this weekend’s state tourney in Nashville. FCA players Nick Martin (Senior) and Jacob Torbett (Sophomore) were named to the All-District Team. Congratulations to our guys!
The new fairviewchristianacademy.org is almost fully operational. There are some small modifications to be made, but we’re almost there. Keep an eye out for new content and news updates coming soon!
