While many schools in the greater McMinn county chose to close for the solar eclipse, Fairview Christian Academy took the opportunity to make this monumental event a special memory. Throughout the week leading up to the solar eclipse, Fairview students were taught the scientific significance of the eclipse, proper viewing techniques, and the orderliness and majesty of God’s Creation.
Students, staff and parents enjoyed lunch on the grounds and good fellowship while viewing the eclipse. Students decorated plates and attached solar glasses to them. This created a “cool craft” and added viewing protection, so the students could safely observe different stages of the eclipse. Winners for the best craft were also chosen.
